Moss on the Trees

I did try a few things before I settled on using tulle based embroidery. It's direct and quick and a method I'm very comfortable with. The fact the tree trunk was flat, raw applique, the moss felt best staying flat.

A variegated green thread gave it some character.

How much more I need and how much will simply be covered over ........?

These little bits were stitched onto hooped tulle and cut away. Any remaining tulle will be lost in the background.

A few stitches of the green variegated thread anchors the little bits.

As a whole, this amount of moss may seem a bit light given the size of the tree.

I can add more at anytime.

Even magnified the small trees and shrubs look real! So much detail - this is why the end result is always compelling.
