Chance Meetings

I made an appointment to 'visit' my tapestry, the one that now hangs in the Guelph Wellington Hospice.

I guess, like with anyone's child, I was wondering how it was doing in its new surrounding.

I needn't have worried. When I stepped off the elevator it was there, in front of me, hanging

(if I may say so), bright and beautiful. I chatted for awhile about it's journey, my journey, with the director, Pat Stuart and the wonderful sponsor Donna Core.

They did have a concerned as the piece had a pronounced wow in the lower corner. I explained how I could remedy that, much to their obvious relief.

We went on to discuss the reactions of people who came and went in that facility.

Just this morning there had been a person examining it with his nose inches from the surface.

As I was about to leave, Pat indicated the gentleman.

I walked over and introduced myself and offered, "I understand you have a few questions".

He introduced himself as The Director of Development, Philadelphia Museum of Art.

We spent a few meaningful minutes discussing the composition, the materials and the construction.

My work, and I, received his stamp of approval.

This from the same man who curated the now iconic 'Quilts of Gees Bend'.

I'm still smiling.
