I have thought a long time about how to put these into this piece.
As the Sunflower is the Logo of the Guelph Wellington Hospice it had to be included.
I played with a lot of things: paint, dyed cheesecloth, commercial fabrics.
They either weren't right or were unavailable.
So here is what I came up with.
Using the smallest, tightest ruffled blade on a rotary cutter I tried a few different fabrics.
I cut tiny narrow strips from fabric backed one side with misty fuse and placed the individual pieces, one by one onto a mottled coloured cheese cloth that was also given a one side of misty fuse.
The tiny pieces of fabric were caught whether they were right sides together of wring sides together.
A little dab of black ink in the centers.......
About 3 hours on what you see below.
This is one of the reasons I left the bottom 6+ inches of the tree trunks loose and unattached.
