24th of May Weekend (one year since my accident)

I was chided today by an old friend for not blogging as frequently as I used to.

So I'm not as productive as I used to be. I have to wait until I'm inspired and those ideas don't fall from the sky (as they used to.)

IT was a push to finish my son's quilt. I'm glad to say it was a delight to have received as enthusiastically as it was.

I have been plodding along on some hand sewing things and now the initial spring gardening work is finished I was able to find the time and energy to finish a couple of small pieces.

I had kept all the scraps from the quilt. Perfect natural autumnal colours. But I realized it was going to be difficult to do confetti work with one hand so I went in another direction.

When I first started playing with fabric I had assembled 'colour'.

Strips of cloth, ribbons and scraps assembled on a background and stitched down in a hundred directions.

I took that route. Simpler and whimsical. Finished off with a bit of Satin stitching.

Not sure what I'll do with it, but it was fun.

The other items was a result of workshop on Kwandi stitching

This is a technique from northern India that assembled scraps all neatly hemmed and stitched by hand. I did start out stitching by hand but I found it too difficult so I finished it by machine. I had intended to make two as placemats, but I have misplaced the second backing. It will turn up and I can finish it later.

Same materials but carefully assembled that there are no raw edges.

it is assembled from the outside in. If you look closely, I did begin this with hand stitching but gave it up and finished it by machine. The close stitching is deliberate.
